The project involved the Redesign and Redevelopment of a Complex Website for the Competition Tribunal. HashTopic was contracted to migrate the existing website data, documents, applications, and system functionality, ensuring a seamless transition, improved functionality, and enhanced visual design. We also helped the Tribunal modernise and improve its website by integrating Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to enhance content search and accessibility.
Integration of Optical Character Recognition (OCR):
HashTopic integrated OCR technology to index and make scanned documents and images searchable. We also implemented a robust search feature that leveraged OCR capabilities to find specific text within documents and enhanced metadata tagging to improve search relevance and accuracy.
Hosting:
HashTopic hosted the website with AxialIT, a leading hosting provider known for its reliability and security features. AxialIT ensures optimal performance and uptime through robust infrastructure and advanced security protocols, offering a secure environment for the Tribunal’s website to operate.
Requirement Analysis:
HashTopic conducted a thorough analysis of user and system requirements to ensure alignment with the Tribunal’s objectives and stakeholder needs.
Identification of existing issues:
We conducted a comprehensive assessment of the existing site to pinpoint any issues, inefficiencies, or areas requiring improvement. Utilising a ‘Website Satisfaction Survey’ on the old site, we gauged user opinions and identified critical areas for enhancement as per their feedback.
Business Process Design and Implementation:
We designed, developed, and implemented support business processes to streamline operations and enhance efficiency post-migration.
Integration of Systems:
We integrated various systems and functionalities within the redesigned site to ensure cohesive operation and optimal user experience.
Data, Document, and Application Migration:
We executed the migration of existing data, documents, and applications from the legacy system to the new platform, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
Scalability Across Devices:
We utilised responsive web design principles to automatically adjust the layout and content for different screen sizes, including smartphones, tablets, and desktops. We tested the website on various devices to ensure it scales appropriately and maintains functionality.
Training:
At the end of the project, HashTopic will provide comprehensive training to Tribunal staff through:
- Training Guide
- User Guide
- Technical Admin Guide
Testing:
We have developed rigorous test cases and conducted thorough testing to validate system functionality and identify any potential issues. Testing reports were documented to track progress and ensure quality assurance.
System Support, Maintenance, and Enhancements:
We will implement ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancements to ensure the continued functionality and efficiency of the site. Monthly reports documenting system support activities will be generated to track performance and address any emerging issues proactively.
The migration process for redesigning and redeveloping the Tribunal’s website is meticulously planned and executed, focusing on seamless transition, enhanced functionality, and user empowerment through training and support.
